Eyeglasses and Sunglasses, a Design Breakthrough . . . Finally !

In the US , over 200 million people use corrective eyewear and/or sunglasses.  Even though eyewear is a 26 billion dollar a year business in this country alone, glasses today look much like they did 700 years ago, until now . . .

Like many baby boomers, Ed MacLeod had a problem.  He always had perfect vision, but at age 48 he needed glasses for computer work and reading.  "I need to put my reading glasses on and off dozens of times a day.  When I fly my plane, sunglasses interfere with my headset.  Every pair of eyewear I owned was uncomfortable, bulky and fragile. They required two hands to put them on with out poking an eye, there had to be a better way."

Mr. MacLeod's efforts produced a bold advance for sunglasses and eyeglasses wearers.  First, frames, hinges temples and earpieces were removed, saving weight, size and cost.  Then, tiny high-tech magnets were added to position the lenses quickly and precisely.   The new glasses are smaller, lighter and have no peripheral blind spots.  You immediately notice there is little if any sensation that you are wearing glasses, and the view to the sides is total.  It is like the lenses are magically floating in front of your eyes.   The feel is as close to natural vision as you can imagine.

The key is a tiny, hardly visible, earring like insert which is worn in the bridge of the nose.  The special biocompatible insert mates with tiny high-tech magnets on the ultra-light eyewear. Put on your AirGlasses and there is a satisfying "click, click" as the magnets pull the lenses precisely into position.  The same insert is used for all of your glasses and sunglasses.  AirGlasses go from pocket to eyes or back in a split second with only one hand.  There is no clumsy folding and unfolding, no hooking up your ears with two hands, no bulky cases, no sliding down your nose, no temple and earpieces to squeeze your head or push out your ears.  Your eyes show through like natural vision, and sunglasses are just way cool looking without the usual headgear.  AirGlasses are ultra-compact; about 5 pair will fit in a standard glasses case. Easily carry reading glasses and sunglasses in a shirt pocket or a back pants pocket.  Sit on AirGlasses, no problem, they are durable.  Optometrists will like them because they precisely position the lenses, every time.

When most people see AirGlasses for the first time, at first they laugh a bit, then their jaw drops, and finally they smile, and say, "That could catch on" or "That is So Cool!"

"I could not be more pleased with the design, they perform brilliantly!  I'm still not happy that I need glasses, but these are the next best thing, they're so convenient and feel totally natural, the improvement is huge.  I'll never go back to old-fashioned, headgear style glasses!  I now look at people wearing the old stuff and say to myself, ". . .if they only knew"."
