Some Frequently Asked Air Desk Questions don't see your question here? email us above
Q: How does the AirDesk help cooling?? A: All laptops are designed and tested for adequate internal cooling, but, if you put them on your lap, you block the air that cools them. You get hot legs and your clothing insulates further heating your laptop. The AirDesk assures adequate cooling air through the laptop so it runs as designed by the engineers. Q: How is the laptop secured to the arm?? A: Your computer sits on a strong acrylic tray. By design, the tray will not tip to the point where the laptop will slide. In addition there are four rubber posts that prevent the laptop from sliding. In my 1000's of hours of experience, the laptop has no tendency to slide or fall off. It is secure even though there are no mechanical straps or clamps. The design also gives you access to cd drawers, and accessory connections. Q: When will my AirDesk ship? A: All orders ship from stock. On rush delivery orders, every effort is made to ship same day. Click the Fast Shipping Tab for more information. Q: How hard is the AirDesk to assemble? A: Your AirDesk will assemble in less than one or two minutes! You get an easy to understand graphic, step by step manual. Most of the assembly has been done at the factory. If you need any help at all, call or write us. Q: What material is the base constructed of, and does it depend on being "tucked" under furniture for stability?? A: The base is 1/8" thick, steel, coated in a tough (black wrinkle texture) coating. The base is designed to be heavy and stable (the one I am using now is standing alone). It is also designed to be thin so that it may be slid under furniture if this is desired. This adds stability, helps hide the base and positions the unit closer to the chair. Q: Is the indicated maximum radius measured to the outside of the laptop or to the middle? A: It is to the middle. The unit is designed to put the computer over your lap. Q: How many adjusting knobs are there, and are they large enough for bad hands to use? A: There are two fairly large knobs, only one is occasionally used. It adjusts the keyboard tip and arm length. It is easy to turn, especially if you remove your laptop to adjust it. I never seem to adjust the other large knob. The height adjustment locking ring has a finger screw, it takes a little finger strength but not much. Q: How are AirShelves mounted? A: AirShelves slide over the mast and are held in place by the friction created by the weight of the shelf. It is an extremely simple and effective arrangement.
