Looking to mount your laptop in your car without
drilling into the floor? A few months ago, so was I.
I first started my search for a product on eBay. I came across a
$30 product from Auto
Laptop Link (I’m not surprised that their website is
currently down) I looked at the pictures, read the reviews,
and decided to order, ignoring the old "you get what
you pay for" motto. After waiting about 3 weeks for
them to correctly ship the product, it finally came in. Upon
opening the box, I was not impressed, but I was still optimistic
that It would accomplish the job. Boy as I wrong, I worked on
trying to mount this thing in my car for about 30 minutes. The
"company" claims it will mount in any car, without
drilling by clamping to the track the seat moves on. I don’t
care what they say, it was not going into my car without drilling,
and even if I did drill, my laptop would not be in a comfortable
position. I called them for their installation support,
and what sounded like a 13 year old kid answered. He told me to
look at the pictures on the website.
After that, I figured I was just wasting my time, so I hit Google,
to search of a higher quality product. Within a
few minutes of searching, I came across the AirDesk.
I called them up to ask them a few questions, the gentlemen on the
phone was very polite and assured me I would be happy with their
product. I decided to order the AirDesk. The AirDesk
is $169.00, requires No Drilling
(for sure this time), has tons of adjustments to position the
laptop in almost any position you want. The company got the
product to my door in less then 2 days, took me about 5 minutes to
setup and is the best product I’ve purchased for my laptop. At
fist I was a little skeptical about how sturdy the mount would be,
since it is only secured by wedging the bars in-between the back
and the bottom of the car seat, but after only a few minutes of
driving, I knew my laptop was safe, even if I had to do
some high speed cornering
I can mount the laptop right in my line of sight so I can use a
GPS program, keep an eye on my email, etc while driving down the
road. When im parked, I can easily loosen up the adjusters and
swing the laptop right in front of me, creating the ultimate
mobile office.
